The english premier league match between Manchester United vs Arsenal took place on 01.11.2020 at Old Trafford. Manchester United were on a rich vein of form. Yes, they drew with Chelsea in their last English premier league game but before that, they defeated West Ham United 4-1 and in the Champions League, they got past PSG and RB Leipzig with the scoreline being 2-1 and 5-0 respectively.
So United would have been confident of getting something out of this game. Arsenal on the other hand lost their previous two English premier league games against Manchester City and Leicester City. They did fairly well in their Champions League campaign though defeating their previous two opponents.

First Half
The first 45 minutes of this game did not give us much action. Manchester United went with a diamond formation. They used it successfully in their previous Champions League game against RB Leipzig which they won 5-0. Arsenal did well to counter their opponents. In fact, they created better scoring opportunities. Thomas Partey whom they signed from Atletico Madrid controlled the midfield and did well to win the ball back.
Second Half
Manchester United changed their formation in the second half. They switched to a 4-2-3-1 from the diamond which they used in the first half. The change in formation helped them as they showed more attacking intent than they have shown in the entire of the first half. Just before the 70-minute mark, Paul Pogba brought down Hector Bellerin down in the Arsenal Box. The referee awarded Arsenal a penalty which was eventually scored by Aubameyang. Manchester United were now trailing by 1 goal.
To get back into the game, United made a change in the 75th minute. Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood were substituted for Edison Cavani and Donny Van De Beek but that did not change things much and Arsenal won the game 2-1.

Arsenal won the game 2-1.
Conclusion
Ole Gunner Solksjaer should have gone with the 4-2-3-1 formation in the first half itself. The result would have been better but credit should be given to Mikel Arteta for the way he organized his side. Pressure is on Solksjaer now as United are currently 15th in the English premier league table.
