On 9/10/2020, match number 23 of  indian premier league 2020 took place between the Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Capitals.  Rajasthan Royals are currently at the bottom of the table while the Delhi Capitals would go to the top of the table with a win.

DELHI CAPITALS INNINGS

As the opening two batsmen, Delhi Capitals sent out  Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw.  Shikhar Dhawan has not been in good form this IPL. He hoped to make some amends tonight. He started well hitting Varun Aaron for a boundary in the first over but in the second over which was bowled by Joffra Archer, he hit the ball straight to a fielder and lost his wicket. Shreyas Iyer replaced him.

They say you need some luck in sports occasionally, and that's exactly what happened with Prithvi Shaw. In the second over, he went for the lofted shot, but Tyagi dropped t
Things were about to get worse for Delhi Capitals as next over Yashasvi Jaiswal did well in the field and sent Shreyas Iyer packing with a direct hit.

Marcus Stoinis came to the middle. He has been in good touch this IPL and he hit Shreyas Gopal for 2 sixes. Stoinis and Shreyas Iyer tried to stabilize the DC ship but in the 10th over, there was a communication mismatch between the two, and Shreyas Iyer was run out. Shimron Hetmyer joined  Stoinis.

10 overs were done and Deccan Chargers were 87 runs for 4 wickets. Next few overs, the Rajasthan Royals managed to keep things tight. In the 14th overs, Rahul Tewatia took the big wicket of Stoinis who got a slight nick and Steve Smith did the rest with a good catch.  Shimron Hetmyer was still there and he gave his team some momentum by hitting a few boundaries and sixes.

In the 17th over, Tyagi took the wicket of Hetmyer who made 45 runs in 24 balls and took the DC score to 149. Axar Patel who replaced him played a good hand. His 17 in 8 balls helped DC to reach a good score of  180. DC ended their innings with 184 on the board.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS INNINGS

Rajasthan Royals began their innings with Jos Butler and Yashavi Jaiswal. They lost their first wicket in the 3rd over as Shikhar Dhawan took a good catch to dismiss Butler. Steve Smith joined Yashavi Jaiswal. Delhi Capitals kept up the pressure with a few good overs and RR ended the first powerplay with 41 on the scoreboard with the loss of 1 wicket. The pressure finally got to RR and in trying to up the ante Steve Smith was caught in the deep off Nortje's bowling in the 9th over.

Sanju Samson joined  Jaiswal. The Delhi Capitals Bowlers were on fire and in the 11th over, Stoinis who batted well in the first innings took the wicket of Samson.  RR were now 75/3. After that RR lost wickets in quick succession and were all out for 138 runs in 20 overs.

RESULT

Delhi Capitals won the match by 46 runs against Rajasthan Royals. The man of the match for this game was Ravichandran Ashwin for his brilliant bowling figures of 2/22 in his 4 overs.

CONCLUSION

What I liked most about this game is was the Delhi Capital's bowling.  They bowled in tandem and never let Rajasthan Royals off the hook.

Stay tuned for further updates in the world of sports.
