Match number 32 of indian premier league 2020 took place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on 16/10/2020 between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Mumbai Indians.
Knight Riders brought in Shivam Mavi and Chris Green in place of Tom Banton and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. They also changed their captain for this season from Dinesh Karthik to Eoin Morgan as the former made a decision to step down so it would be interesting to see how they went about their game.
Mumbai Indians chose to play with an unchanged side. The toss was won by the Knight Riders who decided to bat first. Let's see how the game went
Kolkata Knight Riders Innings
KKR opened with Rahul Tripathi and Shubman Gill while Trent Boult started Mumbai Indians proceedings.
KKR lost their first wicket in the 2nd over which was bowled by Trent Boult. Rahul Tripathi cut the ball extremely well but Suryakumar Yadav who showed his batting prowess already this season showed that he is a brilliant fielder as well.
The ball came to him like a tracer bullet as they say but with both hands, he took a very good catch. Nitish Rana was the new man in.
In the 5th over which was bowled by Nathan Coulter Nile, KKR lost their second wicket. Nitish Rana was looking to pull him but the ball hit his glove just slightly and the keeper took an easy catch. Dinesh Karthik came to the crease.

At the end of the first powerplay, KKR were 33-2. In the 7th over, KKR lost another wicket.
Shubman Gill was looking to clear Rahul Chahar over long-on but didn't get much elevation and Pollard took an easy catch. Eoin Morgan came to the middle. What an over it was for the Mumbai Indians! immediately next ball Dinesh Karthik went for the paddle sweep but the ball took an inside edge and went on to hit the stumps. Two wickets in one over for Chahar. WOW!
Andre Russel joined Eoin Morgan. The next 2-3 overs were good for KKR as Morgan and Russel played a few good shots.
In the 10th over Bumrah bowled a well-directed bouncer to Andre Russel who looked to evade the ball but at the crucial moment, he took his eyes of the ball. The ball took the outside edge of his bat and and the keeper Quinton De Kock took an easy catch. Pat Cummins was the next batsmen in. KKR were 63/5 at this point.
Pat Cummins and Eoin Morgan managed to get a partnership going for the Knight Riders and they took their team's total to 100 in the 16th over. In the next over, Bumrah dropped Pat Cummins.
KKR finished their innings strongly with 148 on the board
Mumbai Indians Innings.
Mumbai Indians sent out Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock to start the chase. The target was only 148 but you never know what can happen in sports. These two batsmen started extremely well and by the end of the first powerplay, Mumbai Indians raced to 51/0.
KKR finally got their first wicket in the 10th over. Shivam Mavi was the bowler. Having been hit for a 4 the previous ball, he bowled a brilliant delivery. Rohit Sharma looked to flick it but he instead edged the ball to Dinesh Karthik. The 94 run opening stand between Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock was finally broken. Suryakumar Yadav was the next man in.
Mumbai Indians now needed 55 of 57 balls. In the 13th over, Suryakumar Yadav departed after trying to sweep Varun Chakravarty but the ball took an inside edge and hit the stumps instead.
This brought Hardik Pandya out to the middle. Quinton de Kock was in sublime form and continued hitting shots all over the park but Hardik Pandya did not want to be forgotten. He played some sublime shots. These two were there till the end and made sure Mumbai Indians did not have many hiccups while chasing the target of 148.

Mumbai Indians won by 8 wickets and 19 balls.
Conclusion
What I liked most about this game was the complete all-round performance from the Mumbai Indians. KKR are a strong side no doubt but Mumbai Indians were focussed on winning.
