The first Playoff of IPL 2020 took place at the Dubai International Stadium. The two competing teams were Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. The winner of this match would book a place in the finals of the tournament which will take place on 10-11.2020. The loser of this game could also get to the finals but to do so they would have to defeat the winner of the second Play-off which would take place between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 06-11-2020.

MUMBAI INDIANS INNINGS
Mumbai Indians started their innings with Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock. Daniel Sams bowled the 1st over. It was not a good start from him as 15 runs were scored off it.
The 2nd over was bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin. On the first ball, he took the wicket of Rohit Sharma who was still on 0 by trapping him plumb in front. Suryakumar Yadav was the new man in. Mumbai Indians were 15/1.
Quinton De Kock and Suryakumar Yadav kept the scoreboard ticking by hitting boundaries regularly and by the end of the first powerplay Mumbai Indians were 63/1.
In the 8th over, Ravichandran Ashwin got his second wicket. Quinton De Kock who was batting on 40, mistimed a shot. Shikhar Dhawan took a good catch at long-off. Mumbai Indians were now 78/2. Ishan Kishan who has been in excellent form this season was the new man in.

Ravichandran Ashwin bowled well tonight and he got his 3rd wicket in the 13th over. In the second ball of the over, Keiron Pollard who had only faced 2 balls till now went for the big shot. Kagiso Rabada who was at long-on took a simple catch. This was a huge wicket for the Delhi Capitals at Pollard can be quite destructive at the end overs. Krunal Pandya was the new man in.
Mumbai Indians took the strategic timeout after 14 overs were done. They were now 108/4. It was necessary for them to get a good score as the dew factor would make it easier for the Delhi Capitals to chase a small target. That was certainly the message they got in the timeout as they came out all guns blazing. The 15th over ensuing the small break which was bowled by Kagiso Rabada went for 14 runs. The 16th over bowled by Anrich Nortje also went for more than 10 runs. Mumbai Indians were now 135/4
In the 17th over, Mumbai Indians lost their 5th wicket. Krunal Pandya went for the big shot but mistimed it and Daniel Sams who was at third man took a simple catch. Mumbai Indians were now 140/5. Hardik Pandya was the next man in.
Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya were now at the crease. In the end overs, these two batsmen were literally unstoppable. They remained till the end and their partnership of 60 runs in 23 balls helped Mumbai Indians post a total of 200 on the board. In the last five overs, Mumbai Indians scored 78 runs. WOW!.

DELHI CAPITALS INNINGS
The Delhi Capitals started the chase with Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan. For the Delhi Capitals to win this one, it was necessary for Dhawan to play a good knock.
The first over of this innings was bowled by Trent Boult. In the second ball over of the over, Delhi Capitals lost their first wicket. Prithvi Shaw was looking to get bat on ball. He got an outside edge instead and Quinton De Kock the wicketkeeper took a simple catch. In the last ball of the same over Delhi Capitals lost another wicket. Ajinkya Rahane was trapped plumb in front. At the end of the first over Delhi Capitals were 0/2.
The second over was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah. In the second ball, he clean bowled Shikhar Dhawan. At the end of this over, Delhi Capitals were 5/3. Marcus Stoinis and Shreyas Iyer were now at the crease. What a start for the Mumbai Indians!

In the 4th over bowled by Jasprit Bumrah, Delhi Capitals lost another wicket. Shreyas Iyer went for the drive but he couldn't keep it down and Rohit Sharma took a simple catch. Delhi Capitals were now 20/4. Delhi Capitals finished the first powerplay with 32 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
In the 8th over, Delhi Capitals lost another wicket. The over was bowled by Krunal Pandya. In the last ball of the over, Rishabh Pant went for the lofted shot but mistimed it and Suryakumar Yadav took a good catch at long-on. Delhi Capitals were now 41/5. Axar Patel was the new man in.
Axar Patel and Marcus Stoinis played well. They were able to form a partnership. By the end of the 15th over, Delhi Capitals were 112/5 and needed 89 runs in 30 balls to win.
In the 16th over, Mumbai Indians brought back Bumrah into the attack. In the first ball of the over, he cleaned bowled Marcus Stoinis who played well for his 65. In the same over, Bumrah took the wicket of Daniel Sams who was caught behind. DC were now 118/7.
In the last over of this innings which was bowled by Keiron Pollard DC lost another wicket. Axar Patel went for the big shot but couldn't get any distance. Rahul Chahar took the catch after juggling the ball thrice.

In their 20 overs, The Delhi Capitals score was 143/8.
RESULT
Mumbai Indians won by 57 runs.
Conclusion
It was an all-round performance by the Mumbai Indians. They outplayed DC in both departments. Out of all the teams in the Playoff, DC are the weakest. They will find it difficult to win the tournament unless they find a way of improving their performance.
